As our North America business expands, we are seeking a Business Developer in GridTech for our Energy and Industrial team. This unit is at the forefront of the energy transition and industrial decarbonization, creating world-first technologies in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
You will be responsible for building and expanding the GridTech/Energy market in North America, working with an established global team of commercial and technical experts in the energy and climatetech sector. This role has significant client contact, and you will use your knowledge and experience to drive innovation with our clients. You will work to define strategy, client programs and develop the commercial approach to bids, ideally working “ahead of the RFP” to influence the innovation direction of bids.

You will use your strong technical skills to communicate what Cambridge Consultants can deliver to potential clients. Your background skills will also help you to make a significant contribution to the overall direction of development projects, often working on multiple projects at a time. You will build and maintain a deep domain knowledge that will strengthen your ability to engage with clients and collaborate with our technical teams throughout the client journey. You have a strong technical background in areas relevant to the market, with a degree in a technical or science discipline. Your career will likely have included experience in an R&D or operations role within the energy supply chain or GridTech. You will have responsibility for developing the commercial side of projects within this market area and you will possess detailed domain knowledge as well as industry network. You may have previous experience of working in a consultancy, DNO, tech disruptor to the energy sector or other ‘fee for service’ organization.
Ideally, you will have a successful track record of building business to deliver technical solutions services in this sector and will have experience developing innovative development work for specific client needs in this market. Above all, you have a passion for innovative technology solution and for solving complex problems.
Within the Energy and Industrial sector we specialize in the design and development of innovative solutions for specific client needs. Often projects start with requirements analysis of complex issues informed by our collective domain knowledge and evolve through technology to develop prototype manufacture and long-term delivery of equipment and services. The projects always incorporates considerable technical challenges. We work across the lifecycle, from research with start-ups through to major distributors.
