Overview

We are looking for an experienced manufacturing engineer to join our team. Working predominantly across healthcare projects, you will apply your skills to help our clients in a range of manufacturing activities from prototyping to transfer to manufacture and process optimisation. The projects you will work on will create exciting cutting-edge technology in areas such as diagnostics, drug delivery, surgical and acute care, synthetic biology and digital health. You will be responsible for helping to turn these innovative designs into real products whilst balancing commercial, design and manufacturing constraints.

You will work within a team of highly talented, multi-disciplinary engineers on major development projects, applying your practical and analytical abilities to realise novel medical technologies for our clients around the globe.

The role

Cambridge Consultants develops and advises on a broad range of products and works alongside many different manufacturing partners. In this role you will work on a variety of medical development projects, applying your skills across our market sectors and projects from early concept through to improving already commercialised processes.

You will have varied roles and responsibilities. Some of these responsibilities will include:

• Taking the lead on manufacturing-focused projects, e.g. process improvement, process scale up, or transferring manufacture of a product to a new CMO.
• Supporting design for manufacture as products are developed, including modelling product cost, identifying potential suppliers, supporting supplier audits and supply chain discussions.
• Assessing manufacturing quality including: developing validation master plans, reviewing quality processes, compliance with standards and commercial readiness
• Applying your skills to design verification activities, including procurement of prototypes for testing and specification and validation of jigs and fixtures.
• You will also have an interest in taking on projects outside your current skill set and apply your knowledge to new areas.

You’ll take responsibility for workstreams and grow to leading entire projects. The majority of the time you’ll be focused on delivering world class manufacturing engineering for our multi-national clients, understanding their needs and communicating clearly and effectively. The variety of projects means you’ll consistently face new challenges, providing opportunities to grow and diversify your skills.

• Experience of working in a medical product manufacturing environment
• In depth knowledge of quality management and GMP
• Experience of liaising with clients/customers and planning work
• Experience of working with manufacturers / CMOs / tooling engineers
